Fiona Howell - Soprano
FIONA HOWELL is 23 and from West Byfleet in Surrey. Her early musical experiences were as a flautist and as an increasingly enthusiastic singer. She passed her 'A' levels at Chetham's School of Music before gaining a scholarship entry to the Royal Academy of Music on the BMus course as a soprano singer. She studied with Glenville Hargreaves and Iain Ledingham and successfully graduated in June 2010.
Over the years Fiona has developed a love of both early choral music and opera and increasingly performs in such works whenever the opportunity arises, either as a soloist or as a chorus member. Her more recent solo performances have included opera scenes, in the UK and in Italy, playing the roles of Donna Anna in Don Giovanni (Mozart), Margerita in Mefistofele (Boito) and Iris in Semele (Handel).
The Academy, in conjunction with the Kohn Foundation, has been presenting an ongoing series of prestigious Bach Cantata concerts and Fiona has been a member of the select chorus throughout. Previously, during her first year at the RAM, she was a member of the BBC symphony chorus.
This September she resumes her studies at the Academy with the post-graduate Masters course and, as her repertoire and experience continues to broaden, her ambition is to become a successful opera singer and classical soloist.
